The Team:
This role reports to the Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy, EMEA. You will manage projects focused on understanding, aligning, analysing and identifying broad policy issues related to our business products across the entire S&P Global portfolio. You will coordinate closely with business, product, legal, finance and communications teams to design and evaluate responses to policy challenges and help develop our internal and external narrative around key policy challenges.
Responsibilities
* You will help support, contribute to and coordinate S&P Global’s public policy response and opportunities, playing a constructive role on active policy issues in the EU in consultation with the Head of Government Affairs and Public Policy, EMEA.
* You will maintain a strong internal network of cross‑divisional relationships to build holistic messaging and positioning to communicate and advance our company priorities externally.
* You will collaborate across teams and develop and implement creative ideas, managing competing priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
* You have experience working with EU institutions, a regulatory agency, a corporate public policy team, trade association or similar, and can grasp complex technical and policy issues.
* As a Manager you will help deliver S&P Global’s EU public policy strategy focusing on the entire portfolio and advise internal teams on public policy implications of their products and services.
* Under direction of the Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy for EMEA, you will work with business division leaders and external stakeholders to support all advocacy and policy outreach efforts based on S&P Global’s priority issues.
* Build relationships with policymakers, government and regulatory bodies to understand and interpret the legislative and regulatory landscape, identifying opportunities and risks for customers.
* Help provide strategic direction and coordination to shape the future of the company by interpreting EU and broader EMEA policy initiatives.
* Advocate and influence decisions in the policy space, providing input, public speaking and representation of the company’s interests.
* Advise division leaders on political and policy risks, mitigating governance, regulatory and governmental risks to the business.
* Coordinate with the Global Government Affairs and Public Policy Team to provide engagement support for senior leaders on thought‑leadership priorities, bilateral meetings, trade association partnerships and public policy events.
* Identify opportunities for senior leadership to provide thought‑leadership to key government officials, trade groups and other stakeholders.
* Understand how changes in government or policy trends may impact our business operations in the region and advise accordingly.
* Manage internal and external communication and relationships with governments, associations and third parties to promote S&P Global policy priorities.
* Serve as a partner to legal, compliance and enterprise risk teams to flag potential risks and proactive policy changes.
* Develop and maintain deep business acumen on our priorities.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
* Experience successfully working on a team.
* Experience in sustainable finance, financial services, technology or data industry and/or surrounding policy environments.
* Experience working and executing strategies with international teams and stakeholders.
* Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced degree in politics, sustainability, international relations, finance or economics.
* 3+ years of experience in government, corporate regulatory, think tanks or public interest groups in the public policy space.
* Additional European languages beyond English.
* Excellent track record operating in regional or global policy and corporate environments.
* Ability to lead and evaluate issues independently in a fast‑paced environment.
* Excellent personal, political, analytical and communications skills with high attention to detail.
* Excellent relationships and influencer network with relevant EU and global policy stakeholders.
