Senior Scientist, Neuroinflammation Team – Braine, Belgium
This is an exciting, high‑visibility role within the Target Discovery and iPSC team of the Neuroinflammation Focus Area. The position is focused on creating translational data, expanding model systems, and accelerating target identification and validation.
Responsibilities
* Lead target identification, validation and biology strategy from hit discovery to candidate selection.
* Design and execute laboratory experiments, including monoculture, co‑culture, 2D and 3D cellular systems with iPSC‑derived cells.
* Perform and oversee functional assays using flow cytometry, deep sequencing, CRISPR, siRNA and lentiviral tools.
* Collaborate internally with pre‑clinical projects and externally with academic labs, CROs, and biotech partners.
* Represent the neuroinflammation biology group to UCB leadership, providing updates and proposing new drug targets.
Qualifications
* BSc (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
* Experience in pharmaceutical research is desirable.
* Expertise with iPSC‑derived cells, microglia, and neuroimmunology.
* Hands‑on experience with CRISPR, siRNA, lentiviral gene editing, flow cytometry, and deep sequencing.
* Strong analytical, independent thinking, and self‑driven attitude.
