PRODUCTION QUALITY ENGINEER - WEST FLANDERS (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONWe're currently recruiting for Production Quality Engineer to ensure automotive products meet required quality, safety, and regulatory standards throughout the manufacturing process. This role focuses on maintaining strong quality control on the production floor, preventing defects, and ensuring consistent adherence to customer and industry requirements.
The role sits at the centre of production, engineering, and supply chain activities, acting as a key interface to ensure quality issues are identified early, investigated effectively, and resolved permanently. You will support day-to-day manufacturing operations by monitoring product and process performance, driving containment actions when issues arise, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
A strong emphasis is placed on problem-solving and continuous improvement. You will lead root cause analysis activities using structured methodologies, analyze production quality data to identify trends, and implement improvements that reduce variation, scrap, and customer defects. You will also contribute to quality planning activities such as control plans, PFMEAs, and inspection standards to ensure robust and capable manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor product quality throughout manufacturing and final inspection.Conduct in-process checks and support shop floor quality control activities.Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and internal standards.Maintain control plans, work instructions, and related quality documentation.Lead investigations into non-conformances using 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone tools.Implement containment, corrective, and preventive actions (CAPA).Work with production and engineering teams to prevent recurrence of issues.Analyze quality data (FPY, PPM, scrap) to identify improvement opportunities.Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.Help reduce process variation and improve product reliability.Assist in resolving supplier quality issues and follow-up actions.Support customer complaint handling and quality audits.Ensure traceability and clear documentation for quality issues.Maintain inspection records and quality reports.Support internal and external audits.Ensure adherence to safety and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
~ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.~2–5 years of experience in a quality engineering or manufacturing quality role (automotive or high-volume production preferred).~ Experience working in an IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 certified environment is highly desirable.~ Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (assembly, machining, stamping, injection molding, etc.).~ Experience with quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, SPC, and control plans.~ Knowledge of GD&T and basic metrology/inspection techniques.~ Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.~ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.~ Ability to work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and suppliers.~ Good communication skills, both written and verbal.~ Ability to manage multiple issues in a fast-paced production environment.~ Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and prevention.
