We are looking for a proactive and innovative OT Engineer to support our digital transformation initiatives in the water and wastewater sector. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in automation engineering, combined with knowledge of IT systems and data, and be passionate about bridging OT and IT environments.
This role focuses on the development and deployment of automation products, implementation of edge computing solutions, and active involvement in further developing a digital platform for real-time data visualization, process optimization (including digital twin development).
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, program, and implement OT infrastructures and solutions for water treatment, including PLCs, SCADA
* Design, implement, and maintain IoT and MQTT communication architectures in water treatment environments
* Integrate sensor data, industrial protocols, and cloud-based solutions to enhance data collection and visibility
* Contribute to the development of modular and standardized automation products.
* Collaborate from an OT perspective in the further development and rollout of a digital platform for real-time monitoring, historical data visualization, and system optimization.
* Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure and scalable OT systems.
* Ensure robust integration between OT assets (SCADA, PLCs, sensors) and IT systems (databases, cloud platforms, web interfaces).
* Implement and manage secure, high-availability data communication protocols, including OPC UA, MQTT.
* Provide assistance for commissioning, testing, and optimization of control systems across treatment plants.
* Troubleshoot and support existing OT systems, identifying and resolving communication or performance issues.
* Stay current with emerging technologies in the IoT, cybersecurity, and smart water infrastructure domains.
* Work with cross-functional teams to drive Industry 4.0 initiatives and digital transformation efforts.
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation
* 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, preferably in the water or utilities sector.
Technical Skills:
* Minimal bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation, or a related field.
* Knowledge of MQTT, OPC UA, Profinet, and other industrial communication protocols.
* Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industrial networking.
* Familiarity with edge computing, cloud integration, and data analytics platforms.
* Understanding of cybersecurity best practices in OT environments.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Experience with Python, SQL, or other data-handling technologies is a plus
Nice to have skills:
* Knowledge of machine learning and AI applications in industrial settings.
* Exposure to containerization (Docker)
