We are seeking an experienced Freelance .NET Developer to support major digital, integration, and regulatory transformation projects within one of Belgium’s leading utilities organisations (energy, grid operations, metering, or market facilitation).

Key Responsibilities: Develop and maintain backend applications using
C# / .NET (Core or Framework) Build and secure
REST APIs
to support critical utilities operations Participate in integrations across complex energy-sector ecosystems Contribute to the modernisation of legacy platforms into
microservices / service-oriented architectures Collaborate closely with analysts, testers, product owners, and solution architects in
Agile squads Ensure code quality, performance, and reliability through testing, reviews, and documentation Support CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated deployment workflows Promote clean coding, maintainability, and continuous engineering improvement across the team
Ideal Candidate: 4+ years of .NET backend development experience Proven tenure within Belgian utilities companies
(grid operators, suppliers, water/electricity providers, or market facilitators such as Atrias, Fluvius, Sibelga, ORES, Elia) Strong knowledge of
OOP, SOLID, and enterprise application design Experience with
C#, .NET Core, API development, SQL Server/Oracle/PostgreSQL Familiar with integration patterns or messaging technologies (Kafka, MQ, Service Bus) Comfortable working in cross-functional
Agile
environments Strong communicator with a quality-driven engineering mindset Hands-on with unit testing, code reviews, and clean architecture principles
Desirable: Experience working in
regulated environments Understanding of energy market processes or standards (e.g.,
MIG6 ) Familiarity with
CI/CD, DevSecOps, containers, or cloud platforms (Azure preferred) Knowledge of event-driven architectures (nice to have)
