Decathlon Belgium is looking for a Taxes & Staff Cost Accountant to join our dedicated Finance team. This is a pivotal role where you will not only ensure rigorous compliance but will also be instrumental in transforming financial data into strategic value. You will be a key player in guaranteeing the financial health and tax accuracy of Decathlon Belgium. You will take full ownership of critical tax declarations while ensuring the meticulous integrity of our general ledger. Your mission is to innovate processes, ensure compliance, and partner with the business to optimize results. Your role is split between meticulous execution of tax and accounting duties, and strategic financial governance: 1. Tax Compliance & Optimization Take full ownership of all Belgian tax obligations, including preparing and filing VAT, Intracom, and Intrastat declarations. Calculate and ensure timely declaration and advance payment of Corporate Tax. You will collaborate with FP&A and the accounting team to optimize advance payments. Actively seek and implement opportunities to optimize gross vs. net results through smart tax management and leveraging legal frameworks. Manage the internal control system's performance related to tax compliance. 2. Accounting & Statutory Reporting Manage the General Ledger, ensuring the integrity and financial accuracy of our books and records. Perform regular, in-depth analysis on financials (P&L & Balance Sheet review), identifying variances and ensuring the correct application of BE GAAP. Oversee the preparation and publication of annual Statutory Financial Statements and all associated legal documentation (work council, general assembly, management reports, etc.). Cooperate closely with external auditors and internal controlling departments throughout audit processes. 3. Innovation & Business Partnership Innovate to find new ways of working that enable Decathlon to reduce non-value-added tasks and create real value for the finance team and the business. Provide expertise and challenge the status quo, acting as a critical Business Partner to Controlling and operational teams.
