in Zedelgem is part of the international TREMEC Corporation with over 1,500 employees, spread across four locations in Mexico, the USA and Belgium. At our entity in Zedelgem (near Bruges), our 150 engineers and colleagues work on the development, testing, prototyping and production of high-tech transmission and propulsion systems and subsystems for high-performance top-of-the-line vehicles. Our products are integrated mechanical and mechatronic systems including control units with embedded software.
Functional Safety Engineer
Your role
* Working as a member of one of our project teams dedicated to the development of a new product line or customer application, you ensure that the product development is properly handling safety aspects from requirements to implementation.
* Based on your experience and knowledge of automotive functional safety per ISO26262, you help the project team find pragmatic and practical solutions that marry safety and performance.
* You work from an understanding of the product on a system and application level, complementing your own knowledge with the detailed expertise of the entire team.
* You ensure that documentation, verification and validation are appropriately handled.
* You perform or guide dedicated safety analyses, risk assessments, fault condition testing, …
* You plan and keep track of the functional safety aspects of a project.
* You communicate with the customer and internal stakeholders on the plan, status and technical details of the functional safety topic.
Your profile
* You preferably obtained a Master's degree in Informatics / Mechatronics / Electronics / Electro-mechanical engineering.
* You have experience in (functional) safety engineering in powertrain technologies (vehicle dynamics, transmissions, engines, electric machines, etc.).
* Experience in software development and quality processes (e.g. ASPICE) is a plus.
* Experience with cybersecurity topics and processes is a plus.
* You are familiar with automotive development processes and tools (FMEA, FTA, …).
* You are a team player.
* You are able to operate and progress independently, and you take initiative.
* You communicate easily in informal and formal settings.
* You have a pragmatic mindset and look for practical instead of theoretical solutions.
