We are looking for an experienced Operations Director (Expat) to lead our parquet manufacturing operations in Malaysia. This site plays a central role within the global parquet value chain, combining production, logistics and supply chain activities in a highly international context.
The Operations Director will focus on strengthening operational performance while developing a strong, autonomous production team. The role requires a hands-on leader who brings clarity, structure and decisiveness, while at the same time investing in people development and long-term organizational sustainability.
1. You lead and coordinate the activities of the key operational functions within a wood manufacturing environment, including production, safety, quality, maintenance, supply chain and logistics.
2. You ensure strong operational performance by monitoring production efficiency, quality outcomes and operational reliability, translating insights into clear priorities and actions.
3. You define and drive the manufacturing strategy, combining long-term operational goals with people development and business objectives to secure sustainable results.
4. You take full ownership of operational results, safeguarding cost control, performance targets and continuous improvement to deliver high-quality products and reliable service.
5. You strengthen organizational effectiveness by introducing structure, clarity and consistency in ways of working, decision-making and performance follow-up.
6. You foster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership and operational discipline, encouraging teams to challenge existing practices and improve every day.
7. You coach, support and develop managers and teams, reinforcing leadership skills, decision-making capability and accountability throughout the organization.
8. You balance empowerment and direction, knowing when to delegate ownership and when to step in to provide clear leadership and momentum.
9. You act as a visible leader on the shop floor, maintaining close contact with operations and people.
10. You report directly to the General Manager of the Wood Business and act as a key contributor to the future leadership continuity of the organization.
WHO ARE YOU:
11. You have solid experience managing complex industrial operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
12. You are a strong people leader and coach, experienced in developing managers and teams.
13. You are comfortable taking decisions and providing clear direction in dynamic environments.
14. You bring a structured and pragmatic mindset, combined with a strong operational focus.
15. You naturally combine hands-on involvement with a broader strategic perspective.
16. You have experience working in an international or multicultural setting and are open to an expat assignment.
17. You communicate fluently in English.
18. Experience with lean manufacturing or operational excellence is an asset. #LI-RV1
