Finance Officer
Location: Belgium, hybrid
Department: Technical Operations Reports to: Finance Manager / Head of Technical Operations
Role Overview
The Finance Officer will play a critical role in supporting the Technical Operations team by managing financial processes, ensuring accurate reporting, and driving operational efficiency. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing budgets, purchase order (PO) creation, variance analysis, and timely completion of month-end reports.
Key Responsibilities
* Budget management: Develop, monitor, and track departmental budgets to ensure alignment with operational goals.
* Purchase Order (PO) creation: Process and manage POs in compliance with company policies and vendor agreements.
* Variance review: Conduct monthly variance analysis to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for cost optimization.
* Month-end reporting: Prepare and deliver accurate financial reports, ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
* Financial systems utilization: Use Oracle, Power BI, and Power Query to manage data, generate insights, and support decision-making.
* Onboarding support: Assist in onboarding new team members by providing financial process training and system guidance.
* Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with Technical Operations, Procurement, and Finance teams to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
* Compliance and controls: Ensure adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
* Proven experience in a finance role, ideally within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or technical operations.
* Strong proficiency in Oracle ERP systems, Power BI, and Power Query.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
* Experience supporting onboarding processes and training colleagues on financial systems.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
