Policy Director - Benelux Business Roundtable
The Benelux region is an economically dynamic and densely populated area with around 30 million inhabitants, contributing nearly 10% to the EU's GDP, covering less than 2% of EU land surface.
The Benelux Union, comprising Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, was established in 1944 and renewed in 2008. The Benelux Business Roundtable (BBR), founded in 2015, includes major regional business leaders and knowledge partners, representing key sectors of the economy.
BBR advocates for increased cross-border collaboration to foster growth and prosperity, aiming to harmonize regulations, leverage economies of scale, and develop strategic European positioning, serving as a voice for industry priorities through initiatives, events, and media engagement.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Policy Director to support the Executive Chairman and Board in advancing BBR's strategic priorities, focusing on cross-border issues aligned with the future of the Benelux region in Europe and globally. The role involves working on high-level task forces, scaling solutions, and stakeholder advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor political developments and prepare relevant content for meetings and documentation.
* Represent BBR externally across business, government, academia, and society, supporting the Executive Chairman.
* Prepare for high-level meetings with CEOs and government ministers.
* Collaborate with federations to develop common positions.
* Engage in proactive positioning and alignment within the EU's industrial and competitiveness strategies.
* Maintain dialogue with political entities and the Benelux Union regarding industry and regional policies.
* Expand BBR membership across sectors and countries.
* Research and produce position papers, speeches, press releases, and web content.
Profile:
* University degree required.
* 7-10 years of relevant experience, with a strong background in policy and stakeholder engagement.
* Knowledge of Benelux institutions and political processes.
* Interest or expertise in energy policy preferred.
* Fluent in English and Dutch; French skills advantageous.
* Excellent writing and representation skills.
* Highly organized, deadline-oriented, and capable of building stakeholder relationships.
This is a consultancy contract for 3-4 days per week, based in the Netherlands or Belgium.
