Junior Finance Consultant Location:Brussels or remote Contract Type:External Consultancy Agreement Duration of Assignment:6 months, renewable based on performance and needs Expected Start Date:1st November 2025 Reporting Line:Project Financial Manager Roles & Responsibilities The Junior Finance Consultant will contribute to the financial management of Impact Europe Projects financed by the EU. We are the coordinator of various projects implemented in EU and in the Neighbouring countries with international consortium of partners. The aim of our projects is to raise awareness, promote social innovation and engage in dialogues with various policy and decision-making stakeholders. We are looking for a consultant that will support in all related tasks linked to financial compliance, accurate reporting, and audit readiness. The selected candidate will report to the Financial Manager and work in close collaboration with Projects' financial coordinators to align financial reporting processes and facilitate smooth operations. The consultant will perform the following tasks: - Review and Verification o Examine financial reports submitted by partners for completeness, accuracy, and consistency. o Verify supporting documents (e.G., invoices, contracts, timesheets, procurement files) against Partners' internal procedure and EU eligibility and compliance criteria. o Identify and Flag inconsistencies or missing documentation. - Compliance and Audit Support o Ensure that all expenditures comply with EU funding rules and contractual obligations. o Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits. o Maintain a structured and accessible archive of financial documentation. - Reporting o Contribute to the preparation of consolidated financial reports for submission to the EU. o Provide regular updates to the finance team on the status of partner submissions and identified issues Skills & Qualities - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Political Science or a related field - Minimum 3 years of experience in EU projects financial administration - Knowledge of EU financial regulations, cost eligibility rules, procurement procedures and audit procedures. - Strong analytical and organizational skills, detailed oriented attitudes - Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders. - Proficiency in Excel and financial management tools. - Fluency in English. - Ability to work under supervision and to effectively manage multiple tasks Nice to have - Experience working on international projects with multi-country consortia. - Familiarity with EU funding programs under the EU external action.
