Overview
We are currently seeking a Freelance Electrical Engineer (LV & MV) to support a large-scale industrial production site in the Antwerp region. The facility operates continuous production processes and is undergoing ongoing electrical upgrades, capacity expansions, and reliability improvements across its power distribution network.
In this role, you will be responsible for the detailed engineering and technical support of LV and MV electrical systems, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable power distribution across both existing infrastructure and new installations. You will work closely with site engineering teams, external contractors, and OEM suppliers to deliver robust electrical solutions in a complex, live production environment.
Your Role
* Deliver detailed LV & MV electrical engineering for an active industrial production site
* Design, review, and update single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and wiring documentation
* Perform load flow calculations, short-circuit studies, and protection coordination analysis
* Support design and integration of MV switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and LV distribution boards
* Review and validate technical documentation from OEMs, panel builders, and subcontractors
* Ensure compliance with IEC standards and Belgian regulations (AREI)
* Support cable engineering including sizing, routing, and termination strategies
* Participate in technical problem-solving during installation and commissioning phases
* Provide engineering input for brownfield modifications and system upgrades
* Support FAT/SAT activities and ensure correct technical implementation on-site
* Collaborate with electrical maintenance, operations, and project engineering teams
Project Environment
The site operates as a high-demand industrial production facility with continuous operations. Electrical systems must remain highly reliable, safe, and scalable to support production uptime.
You will be working in a brownfield environment where live systems must be modified or upgraded without disrupting ongoing operations, requiring strong technical awareness and safety-focused engineering decisions. xphnsxz
Your Profile
* 8+ years’ experience in LV & MV electrical engineering
* Strong background in industrial or energy-intensive production environments
* Proven experience with electrical power distribution systems and network design
* Experience with MV/LV switchgear, protection systems, and transformers
* Proficiency in electrical design tool EPLAN
* Strong understanding of IEC standards and AREI regulations
* Experience with cable calculations and electrical system sizing
* Ability to work independently in a technical engineering role on-site
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
* Fluent in English (Dutch is an advantage)
* Eligible to work as a freelance contractor in Belgium
Bonus Skills
* Experience with brownfield industrial upgrades and live plant modifications
* Knowledge of MV protection coordination and relay settings
* Experience in high-availability production environments (24/7 operations)
* Familiarity with energy monitoring systems or power quality analysis
* Exposure to commissioning and plant reliability improvement projects
