The Role
The Route Development Manager will take ownership of the North America trade lane strategy, with responsibility for developing competitive, reliable, and commercially attractive air and ocean freight solutions, while also driving local sales activity.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing and managing the Air & Sea Freight strategy for North American trade lanes
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with airline and shipping line partners
* Analysing volumes, yields, routing, and service performance to optimise profitability
* Supporting and actively participating in local customer development and sales activity
* Working closely with regional sales teams on trade lane‑specific opportunities and tenders
* Acting as the internal subject‑matter expert for North America air and ocean products
This is a commercially exposed role combining strategic trade lane ownership with hands‑on customer engagement.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate is likely to offer:
* Strong experience in freight forwarding, specifically Air and Sea Freight
* Proven exposure to North American trade lanes, either in route development, product, trade management, or senior commercial roles
* Solid understanding of carrier procurement, pricing dynamics, and capacity management
* A commercially minded approach with the ability to support and drive direct sales activity
