FUNCTIONAL ANALYST - BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
We are seeking an experienced Functional Analyst to bridge the gap between business needs, regulatory requirements, and technical implementation.
In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing complex requirements, designing functional solutions, and supporting delivery teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers, testers, security specialists, and product teams to ensure that solutions are clearly defined, compliant, scalable, and aligned with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyze and translate business requirements, regulations, standards, and technical specifications into clear and actionable functional requirements.
* Produce high-level functional analyses covering business processes, user journeys, key use cases, system integrations, and applicable constraints.
* Create detailed functional specifications in the form of user stories, including clear acceptance criteria to support development and testing activities.
* Act as the primary point of contact (SPOC) for functional-related questions throughout the software development lifecycle.
* Collaborate with business, technical, legal, security, and operational stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful solution delivery.
* Support Agile delivery teams by clarifying requirements, refining backlog items, and facilitating functional discussions.
* Validate delivered solutions through functional testing and verification against defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
* Ensure that requirements consider security, privacy, usability, auditability, compliance, scalability, maintainability, and operational support from the outset.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive functional documentation, including Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), BPMN process models, sequence diagrams, service specifications, and API requirements.
* Identify and manage requirement dependencies, assumptions, risks, and impacts across multiple systems and stakeholders.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
* Minimum of 7 years of experience in Functional Analysis, Business Analysis, or Technical Analysis roles.
* Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and requirements elicitation skills.
* Proven ability to transform complex business, legal, security, and technical requirements into clear, structured, and actionable functional documentation.
* Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to build consensus across multidisciplinary teams.
* Hands-on experience with UML, ERD, BPMN, and other modeling techniques.
* Solid understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
* Proficiency with analysis and documentation tools such as Jira, Confluence, Enterprise Architect, or equivalent platforms.
* Demonstrated experience creating user stories, use cases, process flows, sequence diagrams, API requirements, and acceptance criteria.
* Experience documenting APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI specifications.
