The Circular & Low‑Carbon Materials Lab Technician contributes directly to the development of sustainable construction solutions by performing comprehensive laboratory testing on construction materials, soil stabilization systems, and lime‑based or recycled materials.
You will perform customer support tests and carry out quality control analyses to ensure full compliance with client requirements and internal standards. You will also provide technical assistance to the European Sales & Marketing teams and support the validation of new products through laboratory‑based assessments.
Under the supervision of the Construction Lab Leader, your responsibilities will be:
1. You oversee daily laboratory operations and ensure full compliance with all safety standards and procedures.
2. You maintain, calibrate, and monitor laboratory equipment, and you lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of testing protocols.
3. You manage incoming samples, ensure full traceability, and guarantee proper storage conditions.
4. You conduct mechanical and material tests (compression, bearing capacity, flexural strength, particle size, density, porosity, in line with internal procedures.
5. You analyze and interpret results, prepare clear and structured reports, and deliver accurate testing outputs within required timelines.
6. You provide regular activity updates and comprehensive reports to Circular & Low‑Carbon Materials Engineers, Construction Labs leadership, and Carbon Materials Engineers.
7. You coordinate sample shipments and collections with internal sites and external partners.
8. You collaborate closely with Circular & Low‑Carbon Materials teams and maintain effective communication with the Central Lab for outsourced analyses.
9. You draft analysis requests, ensure complete sample documentation, and follow up on external testing.
10. You identify maintenance needs, propose new equipment purchases, and contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory operations.
11. You keep laboratory and storage areas clean, organized, and compliant with internal standards.
12. You prepare high‑quality written reports in French and English.
Skills & Qualifications
13. You hold a technical degree in Chemistry (Bachelor) or have equivalent experience in a construction materials, mechanical testing laboratory, or applied industrial sciences.
14. You bring ideally 2–3 years of hands‑on lab experience in materials testing, soil mechanics, construction applications, or mechanical characterization.
15. You are comfortable working with standardized procedures and analytical equipment.
16. You can communicate in English, both written and spoken.
17. You master core lab practices: sample preparation, material characterization, and mechanical testing, with strict respect for procedures.
18. You can use MS Office tools confidently (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint) and can produce clear technical reports (data tables,…).
19. You understand health, safety, and environmental rules and apply them rigorously.
20. You organize and prioritize your work efficiently, even with multiple tests and deadlines.
21. You work autonomously, anticipate needs, and proactively suggest improvements.
22. You communicate clearly and can explain technical points to both specialists and non‑specialists.
23. You show rigor, precision, and strong analytical thinking in all lab activities.
24. You solve problems methodically and support sound technical conclusions.
