Senior Data Scientist – Cloud Data Ecosystems & AI
Cronos is looking for a visionary Data Scientist to drive the evolution of a sophisticated "Knowledge Platform" for a prestigious European Institution. This role is a unique opportunity to lead the transition from traditional descriptive reporting to advanced Business Intelligence and AI-driven predictive analysis within a large-scale automated data ecosystem.
The Project
You will be integrated into a Competence Centre focused on digital transformation. Your mission is to validate and implement a centralized data lake (transitioning to Microsoft Fabric) and an automated processing layer to serve as a "Single Source of Truth". This platform supports critical functions, including an AI Chatbot (RAG system) used for real-time information synthesis.
Your Core Responsibilities
* Architecture & Modeling: Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models using the Medallion Architecture.
* Data Engineering: Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and automated workflows using Python, Spark, and SQL.
* AI Integration: Support the enrichment of data pipelines with Machine Learning, NLP, and Large Language Models (LLMs).
* Cloud Orchestration: Design and manage workflows in cloud environments such as Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, or AWS Glue.
* Visualization: Deliver advanced reporting and user-friendly interfaces, primarily using Power BI.
* Quality & Governance: Apply DevOps practices (CI/CD, Git) and maintain high standards for data security and integrity.
Required Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor’s degree (EQF Level 6) focused on Data Management is mandatory. A Master’s degree or 5+ years of relevant higher studies is highly valued.
* Technical Mastery: * Excellent knowledge of Python, Spark, and SQL.
* Proven experience in building pipelines with Azure Synapse or Microsoft Fabric.
* Strong understanding of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals.
* Soft Skills: Ability to operate in a multidisciplinary, international team with a high degree of discretion.
* Administrative: Eligibility for European Commission Security Screening is required.
Preferred Assets
* Certifications: Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate or Fabric Analytics Engineer.
* Platforms: Familiarity with Power Platform or no-code/low-code tools like KNIME/Dataiku.
* Documentation: Experience with Jira, Confluence, or GitLab Wiki.
