The successful candidate will cover high-stakes regulatory stories, anticipating where problems may lie through in-depth analyses of legislation and litigation.
This is a challenging beat that requires breaking market-moving news while offering forward-looking analysis to inform decision-makers.
Responsibilities
* Write urgent copy quickly for our real-time newswire.
* Identify risks posed by legislation ahead of competitors and write big-impact investigations and commentary pieces.
* Work closely with our European competition team in Brussels and London.
* Collaborate with colleagues in other bureaus and the broader data, privacy, and security team.
The ideal candidate must be able to write clearly and concisely in impeccable English. Native-level fluency in another European language, particularly Spanish or French, is necessary to succeed in this position.
Requirements
* At least two years of journalism experience.
* Drive to break exclusive news and write poignant analysis.
* Writing speed and flair in both news-wire and commentary formats.
* Knowledge of the EU regulatory environment or interest in competition regulation.
* Broad network of sources across EU agencies, industry, and law firms.
* Fluent in English. Native-level fluency in another European language, particularly Spanish or French.
