Senior TypeScript (Back-End) Developer
Location: Hybrid – Brussels (1 day per week in office)
Travel: Occasional travel between Belgium and the UK

Position Overview
The client is seeking an experienced Senior TypeScript Developer, specialising in back-end development, to join their engineering team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable APIs and cloud-based services that form the backbone of critical business applications.
This role suits a technically adept engineer who enjoys working in an autonomous, agile environment, is comfortable taking ownership of end-to-end solutions, and is committed to writing secure, maintainable, and performant code.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain APIs and back-end services using TypeScript and Node.js.
Build and manage Workers and microservices to ensure scalability and reliability.
Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and business analysts to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Conduct code reviews, support team members, and promote engineering best practices.
Implement and maintain automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end).
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and work with modern DevOps tools (Azure, Docker).
Identify and resolve technical issues across environments.
Ensure adherence to security, data protection, and privacy standards.
Participate in regular production deployments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills and Experience
Senior-level experience in TypeScript and Node.js (5+ years).
Proven experience designing and developing APIs and Workers in Node.js.
Familiarity with React and Next.js for integration and front-end collaboration.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, resilience, and cloud architecture.
Experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure tools (Azure, Docker, CI/CD).
Proficiency in automated testing frameworks and methodologies.
Solid understanding of security best practices in software development.
Experience working in autonomous, agile environments.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Additional Information
Hybrid working model – one day per week in the Brussels office.
