Auditor - BSA/AML
General Description
Conducts audits to assess the adequacy of the Corporation's Fraud Prevention & BSA/AML and Sanctions compliance programs to meet regulatory obligations as well as assess the design and operating effectiveness of the related internal controls.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Audits department activities for compliance with management's plans, procedures, policies and applicable laws and regulations, principally related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) / Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and OFAC.
Identifies and documents business processes and controls to evaluate risks and the design and adequacy of established controls.
Compares and contrasts established policies, procedures and controls with regulatory requirements and generally expected internal controls to identify, evaluate and communicate significant issues.
Exam records of department to ensure proper recording, monitoring, and reporting of transactions and their compliance with laws and regulations.
Perform interviews and walkthroughs to gain an understanding of the process to ensure adequate recording of transactions, adherence with applicable policies and procedures, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Analyzes data obtained from tests performed to determine that internal controls exist and are working effectively.
Prepares the draft of the audit findings and discusses with management the root cause in order to propose a recommendation.
Completes other compliance, financial, and operational non-BSA audits and special projects based on internal audit division's needs, including collaboration with outside auditors or support the external auditing function.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting or a four-year degree with courses in accounting / finance and auditing
Experience
Experience in internal or external auditing and/or in a BSA/AML compliance function is preferable but not required.
Certifications / Licenses
The Following Certifications Are Preferable, But Not Required
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
