About the Role
The Ocean Freight Forwarder plays a key role in the transportation and logistics industry by coordinating the movement of goods across international and domestic borders. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the shipping process—from booking cargo space to ensuring timely delivery—while adhering to regulatory requirements and providing excellent service to clients.
How You Will Contribute
1. Cargo Coordination: Arrange transportation for shipments by sea, rail, or road based on client requirements and budget. Coordinate with carriers, shipping lines, and service providers to secure space and schedule shipments.
2. Documentation Management: Prepare and manage all required documentation for customs clearance, compliance, and freight tracking. Ensure accuracy to avoid delays.
3. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements to ensure compliance. Work with customs brokers to facilitate clearance and resolve issues.
4. Client Support: Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing updates, resolving inquiries, and maintaining strong relationships to support repeat business.
5. Supply Chain Collaboration: Partner with suppliers, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to optimize efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
6. Rate Negotiation: Negotiate freight rates with carriers and vendors to secure competitive pricing.
7. Risk Management: Identify potential risks such as cargo damage or compliance issues and implement mitigation strategies, including insurance coverage.
8. Technology Utilization: Use freight management systems and tracking tools to streamline processes and provide real-time visibility to clients.
9. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and service enhancement with a solution-oriented approach.
What You Will Bring
10. Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
11. Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, Incoterms, and documentation requirements.
12. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
13. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work effectively under pressure.
14. Proficiency in freight management software and MS Office Suite.
15. Fluency in Dutch and English.
16. Attention to detail and accuracy in handling documentation and data.
