Job Description:
Cefic is looking for an Executive Director for Petrochemicals Europe.
The Executive Director of Petrochemicals Europe leads one of Cefic’s core industry sectors, representing a vital segment of the European chemical industry. This role is strategic and operational, responsible for policy steering, managing the Brussels-based team and sector groups, and serving as the industry’s public face in Europe. Leading key projects in interest of Petrochemicals Europe and Cefic.
Key Responsibilities
* Board Support: Advise and support the Petrochemicals Europe Board on strategic matters, prepare agendas, proposals, and reports for decision-making.
* Strategic & Change Leadership: Coordinate activities of Petrochemicals Europe and its sector groups, implement Board decisions, and align priorities with Cefic’s broader policy agenda.
* Leverage interests in Cefic: Engage actively with Cefic’s Policy Councils and Industry Sectors, participate in Cefic fora.
* Advocacy & Representation: Act as the primary spokesperson for the European petrochemical industry, representing it in regulatory, political, and public forums.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build relationships with stakeholders including EU institutions, member companies, and international partners. Travel required.
* Policy & Regulatory Affairs: Lead engagement on policy areas like climate change, energy, REACH, HSE, and sustainability, shaping EU legislation and strategy.
* Team & Operational Management: Oversee daily operations, provide leadership, manage budget and contracts, foster collaboration.
Candidate Profile
* Experience: Leadership in petrochemical, oil, or chemical sectors, managing stakeholders and strategic change.
* Expertise: Knowledge of petrochemical technology, markets, regulation, sustainability; project and crisis management experience valued.
* Education: Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Business, or related; multilingual and international exposure assets.
* Leadership Style: Visionary, collaborative, resilient; able to navigate political and industrial landscapes, inspire teams, represent industry credibly; willing to travel and speak at conferences.
Strategic importance: The role ensures the petrochemical industry remains vital to Europe’s industrial and sustainable transition.
