OverviewWe are currently seeking a Freelance Electro-Mechanical Technician to support a new large-scale automated distribution center project in the Brussels region.
The project involves the installation, alignment, and commissioning of a fully automated conveyor and parcel sorting system for a high-throughput e-commerce fulfilment and distribution hub. The facility is designed to handle high-volume order processing with fully integrated automated handling, scanning, and sorting technologies.
This is a hands-on role combining mechanical installation and electrical field support within a fast-paced commissioning environment.
Your RoleInstall, assemble, and mechanically align conveyor systems, diverters, and sorting modulesSupport installation of automated material handling equipment in a distribution center environmentAssist with installation and connection of motors, sensors, actuators, and field devicesPerform mechanical fitting, adjustments, and system alignment across conveyor linesSupport electrical termination checks, cable routing verification, and basic troubleshootingConduct functional testing of conveyor systems and automated handling equipmentAssist in integration of electro-mechanical systems with PLC-controlled automationTroubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during installation and commissioning phasesWork closely with automation engineers, OEM technicians, and site supervisorsEnsure all installation work complies with technical drawings, safety standards, and quality requirementsParticipate in system commissioning and operational ramp-up activities
Project EnvironmentThe project is a new-build automated e-commerce distribution center designed for high-speed order fulfilment and parcel processing. The system includes multiple conveyor networks, automated sorting machines, scanning stations, and robotic handling interfaces.You will be working in a dynamic installation environment with multiple technical teams operating simultaneously, requiring strong coordination, precision, and adherence to safety protocols.
Your Profile5+ years of experience as an electro-mechanical technician or industrial installerStrong background in mechanical installation and industrial automation equipmentExperience with conveyor systems, warehouse automation, or material handling systemsAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and basic electrical schematicsHands-on experience with alignment, fitting, and installation of industrial machineryBasic understanding of industrial electrical systems (motors, sensors, control wiring)Experience in installation and commissioning environmentsStrong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsFluent in English (French is an advantage)Available for on-site work in the Brussels regionEligible to work as a freelance contractor
Bonus SkillsExperience in e-commerce logistics or warehouse automation projectsFamiliarity with PLC-controlled conveyor or sorting systemsExperience working with OEM installation or commissioning teamsKnowledge of industrial safety systems in automated environmentsExposure to high-volume 24/7 distribution operations
