BioWin is the competitiveness cluster for the Walloon region of Belgium and the regional point of reference for all those involved in innovative R&D projects in Biopharma and Healthtech, whether companies, research centres or universities. Initially, BioWin’s role was largely focused on the development, selection and monitoring of collaborative research and innovation projects involving universities, research centers, academic hospitals and industries. In 15 years, BioWin has developed a portfolio of 59 R&D projects for a total budget of 191 million Euros.
Your Role
As a Head of Business Development & MarCom, you will drive the growth and engagement of members and strategic partners within the biotech, biopharma, radiopharma and health innovation ecosystem. You will enhance the value proposition and satisfaction for existing members, develop impactful engagement programs, and position the organization as a leading partner in health innovation. In parallel, you will define and execute strategic plans to identify new market opportunities and foster collaborative partnerships that stimulate ecosystem growth and innovation. Leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team combining business development, marketing, and event management, you will ensure alignment between commercial and marketing activities to maximize brand visibility and outreach. You will also act as a key representative at national and international forums to build thought leadership and promote success stories, ultimately enabling sustainable growth and measurable impact for the cluster and its members.

Develop and deliver engagement programs and advisory councils.
Position Biowin as the “go-to partner” for health innovation.
Lead Biowin to have a clear valuable impact for its members
Drive the creation of new value streams around innovation projects.
Foster an entrepreneurial culture that transforms ideas into impactful, collaborative initiatives across the health ecosystem.
Strategy & Ecosystem Development
Define and implement Biowin’s strategy.
Identify market opportunities in biotech, medtech, digital health, nuclear medicine, ....
Monitor industry trends and market dynamics to inform decision-making and strategy adaptation
Benchmark activities with regional, Belgian, and European health innovation strategies.
Translate strategic ambitions into operational action plans, ensuring measurable outcomes and tangible ecosystem impact.
Actively shape new collaborative models and partnerships that position Biowin as a generator of innovation-driven growth.
Team Leadership – Business Development, Marketing & Events
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team covering:
Marketing & Communication (brand positioning, content, digital presence)
Event Management (conferences, partnering events, networking sessions)
Work closely with research and innovation team to bring an entrepreneurship acumen and provide market trends
Manage budgets, resources, and team performance.
Ensure alignment and synergy between Business Development and MarCom activities, leveraging communication as a strategic growth lever.
Balance strategic leadership with operational involvement, maintaining hands‑on engagement in key initiatives and campaigns.
Visibility & Thought Leadership
Represent Biowin at national and international events, conferences, trade shows, policy forums.
Build Biowin’s brand as a leading European health innovation cluster.
Oversee storytelling, media presence, and promotion of member success stories.
Develop strategic positioning and influence within the ecosystem.
Champion Biowin’s role as an innovation catalyst – showcasing new growth initiatives, pilot projects, and partnerships that create added value for the sector.
Must-Haves
Master’s degree or higher (Business, Life Sciences,...).
+7 years in Business Development, Strategic Partnerships, or Ecosystem Management in biotech, pharma, or nuclear medicine.
Demonstrated success in structuring collaborations or driving strategic initiatives.
Experience leading teams, ideally including marketing and/or event functions.
Strong network across the European life sciences ecosystem.
Proven ability to bridge strategy and execution, turning vision into operational impact.
Experience in creating or scaling innovation-driven initiatives or new business models.
Fluent in English and French (Dutch is an asset).
Excellent leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
Experience in clusters, innovation ecosystems, or public‑private initiatives.
Understanding of EU/regional funding landscape and health innovation policies.
Familiarity with regulatory and clinical development pathways.
Experience in brand positioning, communication, or ecosystem storytelling.
Background in innovation valorization, technology transfer, or entrepreneurship is a strong plus.
