Utilities Project Engineer
Location: Bornem, Belgium
Overview
To support the Utilities team, we are looking for a Utilities Project Engineer. The Utilities team is responsible for maintenance and improvement of systems within the power plant (steam, chilled water, compressed air, water systems, HVAC, Kathapac air, etc.) and the gel preparation department (process equipment such as mixers, vessels, and water systems).
The role combines project engineering and maintenance support, focusing on small-scale technical projects and continuous improvement of utility and process installations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Engineering
Lead and support small technical projects across the utilities and process departments. Projects may start from scratch or continue previously initiated work.
Project development
* Develop the functional description and project scope
* Design technical solutions together with the team
* Prepare project work packages
Work preparation
* Identify required materials and components
* Support the procurement process
* Engage and coordinate with contractors
* Prepare work permits
Project execution
* Follow up on technical execution
* Ensure safety compliance
* Coordinate on-site activities
Project completion
* Prepare documentation for project handover
Examples of projects
* Replacement of obsolete machine components
* Installation of new equipment
* Performing risk analyses together with EH&S
* Development of preventive maintenance plans
* Creating spare parts lists for new equipment
* Replacement of piping or instrumentation
* Various process and utilities improvements
2. Maintenance Support
Support daily maintenance activities in collaboration with the Utilities Head and Utilities Engineer.
Tasks include:
* Work preparation for preventive maintenance activities
* Updating maintenance work instructions
* Reviewing and improving preventive maintenance plans
* Supporting ongoing maintenance operations

Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electromechanics
* Experience with utilities or process technology is a plus
