Mechanical Engineer – Industrial Projects | Long-term mission | Antwerp region
We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the engineering department of a leading international materials & recycling group, based in the Antwerp region.
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary Technology team working on large-scale industrial projects — from concept design to commissioning. Expect an environment where innovation, sustainability, and teamwork go hand in hand.
Your role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll take ownership of the mechanical and piping scope within industrial investment projects:
* Translate stakeholder input into detailed mechanical designs and specifications
* Conduct technical discussions with suppliers, prepare tenders, and follow up on deliveries
* Estimate costs, plan and monitor project budgets and schedules
* Coordinate on-site activities and ensure smooth execution until commissioning
* Contribute to the start-up of new installations and support continuous improvement
You’ll work across a variety of installations — from conveyors and mixing systems to compressors, shredders, and robotic handling setups. Every project is different, combining mechanical insight with creative problem-solving.
What you bring
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering
* 10+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, maintenance, or industrial project environments
* Strong understanding of machines, pumps, piping, materials, and thermodynamics
* Ability to draft tenders and follow up technical procurement
* Hands-on attitude — not afraid to put on safety shoes and visit the plant
* Fluent in Dutch, good command of English
