About the Role
Director, Embedded Software Development & Delivery
Cochlear is looking for an experienced leader to drive the transformation and delivery of next‑generation embedded software platforms for our sound processor and implant systems. The role is based in Mechelen, Belgium or Vallauris, France and will work with a global R&D team.
Key Responsibilities
Define and implement strategies for scalable, configurable embedded software platform releases.
Ensure architectural alignment with Product Family Engineering and Cochlear’s systems architecture.
Build, develop, and lead high‑performing embedded software engineering teams across Europe.
Champion innovation and foster collaboration across R&D, product management, and technology partners.
Oversee delivery of embedded software platform releases, ensuring compliance with medical device regulations and Cochlear’s quality management system.
Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Software Development or similar.
Minimum 5 years of experience leading large embedded software development teams in complex R&D environments.
Proven track record in developing managers and leaders.
Experience managing multi‑stakeholder project portfolios with high technical complexity.
Familiarity with Agile development and DevOps for embedded systems at scale.
Experience in medical device development or other safety‑critical applications (ideal).
Strong strategic leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
