Automotive Public Affairs Manager (EU and Belgium/Netherlands)

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse EU legislative and policy developments with a focus on automotive, e-mobility, digital and trade policy, and assess their business impact.

• Develop and implement EU public affairs and advocacy strategies aligned with the company's commercial and regulatory objectives.

• Build, manage and maintain relationships with EU institutions, including the European Commission, European Parliament, Council, Member State representations, industry associations and relevant NGOs, as well as stakeholders in Belgium and the Netherlands.

• Draft clear and concise policy briefings, position papers, consultation responses and internal management updates on regulatory risks and opportunities.

• Represent the company in meetings, hearings, roundtables, working groups and industry events in Brussels and across Europe.

• Coordinate closely with internal teams such as business units, legal, sustainability, and communications to ensure consistent policy positioning.

Requirements

• A university degree in political science, EU law, economics, international relations or a comparable field.

• Several years of relevant experience in EU public affairs, government relations, consultancy, industry associations or corporate roles based in Brussels.

• A strong understanding of EU decision-making processes and institutions, with prior exposure to automotive, mobility, energy or technology policy considered a strong advantage.

• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate complex regulatory developments into clear, business-relevant insights.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting policy and advocacy materials for senior stakeholders.

• Fluency in English is required, additional EU languages such as French or German, or additional Chinese skills are an advantage, and the ability to work effectively in an international, multicultural environment is essential.
