Role Overview
We are looking for a highly versatile Full Stack Developer to contribute to the full lifecycle of modern web application development within a major EU institution in Brussels. This role requires strong expertise across both front-end and back-end technologies, architecture design, integration, testing and documentation. You will work within a hybrid setup, collaborating with functional and technical teams to deliver scalable, secure and reliable solutions.
The project is already active, and due to high demand (one developer was already selected), this is a high-priority hire.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain front-end and back-end features for enterprise web applications.
• Design and implement APIs, integration points and technical interfaces.
• Build modular, scalable code and reusable components.
• Translate business requirements into functional and technical implementations.
• Produce prototypes, PoCs and solution designs.
• Create and execute testing procedures (unit, integration, automation).
• Integrate systems with external services and databases.
• Prepare high-quality technical documentation.
• Support deployments, configurations and operational readiness.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, planning sessions and reviews.
Required Skills & Technologies
Core Technical Skills
• Strong expertise in HTML5, CSS3
• Excellent command of Java 8/11 (Java 17+ is a plus)
• Proven experience with the Spring ecosystem
• Solid JavaScript knowledge with modern frameworks (Angular, jQuery, React, etc.)
• Strong understanding of relational databases
• Good grasp of Agile methodologies
• Good knowledge of UML
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to produce structured documentation and present technical topics confidently
Specific Expertise (Highly Valued)
• Advanced experience with Spring/Spring Boot 3+, Hibernate/JPA, MVC, Validation, Testing, Spring Security
• CI/CD, GIT/Bitbucket, Maven, Gradle
• Spring Boot Test, JUnit, Mockito
• Strong expertise in Angular and NPM
• Oracle 8+ and PL/SQL
• Experience with Struts, JSP, Knockout.js, jQuery, Kendo UI
• Application servers: WebLogic, Tomcat
• JSON libraries (GSON, Jackson)
• SOAP, REST, Spring Web Services
• API gateways: WSO2, Spring Cloud Gateway, Eureka/Zuul
• Atlassian tools: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo
• Modern security practices: JWT, JWE, JWKS, OIDC, CAS
• DevSecOps exposure; encryption and signing concepts
• Kubernetes, Docker or AWS (nice to have)
• MySQL 5+ (asset)
• ESB technologies: Apache Camel, ServiceMix, Oracle Service Bus
• Web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.0/2.1, WAI-ARIA)
• UX understanding: responsive and mobile-first design
• Experience integrating with EU systems (ECAS/EULogin, Decide, ARES) is a plus
