PRODUCTION ENGINEER - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Production Engineer to support and continuously improve electronics and imaging manufacturing operations.
In this role, you will be the technical bridge between engineering teams and the production floor, ensuring that calibration processes run reliably, operators have the support they need, and issues are addressed quickly and effectively.
You will work closely with hardware, software, and test engineering to resolve calibration failures, optimize imaging performance, and maintain robust production workflows. This is a highly collaborative role that requires strong communication, ownership, and a problem-solving mindset.
If you thrive at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and real-time troubleshooting, this role offers the opportunity to directly influence product quality, yield, and the overall reliability of production operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and resolve calibration issues for imaging and electronics assemblies.
* Read and interpret Python scripts used for calibration and test automation (able to understand logic, adjust configuration parameters, and provide actionable feedback to software teams).
* Investigate imaging performance deviations using test data and debug tools.
* Lead root-cause analysis for recurring calibration or test failures and implement corrective actions.
* Provide daily on-floor engineering support to production operators.
* Ensure smooth production execution by monitoring workflow, resolving blockers, and maintaining adherence to work instructions and quality standards.
* Analyze line performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or opportunities for process improvement.
* Support build readiness for new batches, including setup verification and test equipment checks.
* Act as the primary engineering contact for escalations from operators or technicians.
* Coordinate across hardware, software, test, and quality teams to drive timely resolution of complex issues.
* Develop and refine production processes, calibration flows, and test procedures to improve quality and consistency.
* Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and operator training materials.
* Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts, validating processes, ensuring test coverage, and supporting early-stage builds.
* Contribute to yield improvement initiatives through data-driven analysis and experimentation.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field; equivalent hands-on experience also considered.
* Experience with electronics, imaging hardware, sensors, or optical systems.
* Ability to read and understand Python scripts used in calibration, automation, or test environments.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a structured problem-solving approach.
* Comfortable working directly on the production floor alongside operators.
* Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
The Offer:
* A permanent, full-time employment contract
* A salary & benefits package commensurate with experience
