Overview
For the region of Liège, we are seeking an HSE Advisor with strong command of English and French. The role involves working on prominent civil projects—expansion of new data centers, construction of Defence headquarters, the Oosterweel connection, etc.—implementing and monitoring safety policy while collaborating with site management to ensure projects run smoothly and safely.
Your Role
In the morning, you start with a site tour wearing PPE and discuss progress with the site manager. You observe work, discuss safety compliance, address any issues diplomatically, and then document or investigate incidents on the platform. Throughout the day you handle safety audits, inspections, and QHSSE procedures, and support the team in continuing improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor safety and progress of projects at different implementation stages through risk analysis and safety inspections.
* Consult with site and project management and engage with foremen, workers and subcontractors.
* Prepare reports and develop safety procedures and toolbox meetings.
* Draft project‑specific documents (HSE implementation plan, emergency plan, inspection and testing plan).
* Organise safety training sessions.
* Observe, analyse and log safety incidents via the platform, and follow up to ensure corrective action.
* Investigate on‑site accidents and implement preventive measures.
* Facilitate and perform QHSSE audits and inspections.
Qualifications
* Level 2 safety‑advisor certification.
* Knowledge of construction‑industry safety procedures.
* Minimum five years of relevant experience.
* Proficient in English and French.
* Effective communication and coaching skills.
* Ability to work both independently and in a team.
* Strong prioritisation and planning to meet deadlines.
* Openness to change and tolerance for variable schedules.
* Assertiveness in identifying and addressing unsafe situations.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing site circumstances.
