Mission
As our onsite Automation Engineer specialist, you'll lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of automation solutions for our highly automated medical device distribution hub. You'll be the technical expert ensuring our operations remain efficient, compliant, and innovative while working with state-of-the-art technologies.
Key Responsibilities
* Weekend Maintenance Leadership: Execute planned maintenance, upgrades, and deployments during designated weekends to ensure zero business disruption
* Project Lifecycle Management: Support DC equipment project automation from design through operational stabilization, coordinating with regional engineering and cross-functional teams
* WCS Optimization: Enhance Warehouse Control System deployments, manage technical escalations, and implement sustainable fixes with integrators and vendors
* Technology Integration: Introduce advanced technologies including:
o AI/ML-driven automation systems
o AMR/AGV fleet management
o Machine vision & inspection systems
o Cyber-physical systems & IoT architectures
* Compliance & Standards: Ensure all automation projects meet cybersecurity, data privacy, and safety regulations
* Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with J&J technology organizations (ISRM, JJT, TQ) to align WCS requirements with infrastructure and security plans
* Innovation Leadership: Stay current with Industry 4.0 trends and smart manufacturing best practices
Required Qualifications
Experience: 4-6 years in automation engineering, robotics, or industrial digitalization
Technical Expertise:
* Strong understanding of emerging technologies:
o 3D printing applications
o AI/Machine Learning implementation
o Vision systems integration
o AMR/AGV systems deployment
o IoT sensors and edge computing
* Programming proficiency in Python, Java, or C++
* Experience with automation frameworks and IoT platforms
* Data analytics capabilities for manufacturing datasets
* Computer System Validation (CSV) & SDLC documentation
* Microsoft.NET ASP & Windows applications or JAVA equivalents
* Controls/Automation systems: PLC, HMI, SCADA, OEE, Warehouse Control Systems
* IQ/OQ/PQ validation plans and engineering change control
Soft Skills:
* Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
* Strong documentation and report writing capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Engineering, IT, Automation, or related field
* Experience in highly automated manufacturing/distribution environments (GMP/regulatory preferred)
* Familiarity with Rockwell PLCs, industrial robotics, OEE tools, and industrial data centers
* Six Sigma Green Belt certification
Language Requirements
* Required: Fluency in French and English
* Preferred: Knowledge of Dutch
