ENGINEERING MANAGER - LEUVEN (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
We're recruiting for an Engineering Manager who will be responsible for guiding a team focused on testing, test automation, and production support for electronic systems and products. The role ensures end-to-end product quality by driving robust validation strategies, scalable automation frameworks, and efficient production test processes.
This position sits at the intersection of design engineering, validation, and manufacturing, playing a critical role in ensuring products transition smoothly from development to high-volume production.
A key aspect of the role is building and maintaining automated test infrastructure that improves test coverage, repeatability, and efficiency across development and production environments. The role also owns production test readiness, including yield optimization, failure analysis, and continuous improvement of test processes to support scalable manufacturing.
In addition to technical ownership, the Team Lead collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including hardware design, firmware, quality, and manufacturing operations to ensure test requirements are identified early and integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and mentor a team of test engineers working across validation, test automation, and production testing
* Define and execute comprehensive test strategies for hardware, firmware, and system-level validation
* Develop, implement, and maintain automated test frameworks and infrastructure (HIL/SIL, production test rigs, etc.)
* Drive design-for-test (DFT) and design-for-manufacturability (DFM) practices in collaboration with design teams
* Ensure early involvement in product development to define test requirements and coverage plans
* Own production test readiness, including test deployment, validation, yield monitoring, and optimization
* Analyze test data to identify trends, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions
* Improve test efficiency, reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of test systems
* Manage test equipment, lab infrastructure, calibration, and maintenance processes
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, quality, manufacturing, operations)
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across testing and production processes
* Mentor and develop team members, building strong technical capability and ownership mindset
Required Skills & Experience:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, or related field
* Strong experience in electronics testing, validation engineering, or production test environments
* Hands-on expertise in test automation, scripting (Python/C/C++), and test framework development
* Experience with electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DAQ systems, etc.)
* Good understanding of embedded systems, hardware validation, and manufacturing test processes
* Experience in root cause analysis, failure debugging, and yield improvement
* Familiarity with DFT/DFM principles and high-volume production environments
* Proven leadership experience managing technical teams or engineering projects
* Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
