Your mission : The Critical Communication Systems Engineer will be part of the system engineering department of THALES BELGIUM, which is responsible for the integration of critical communication solutions for homeland and defense customers.
Location: Tubize, Belgium
Responsibilities
* Understand and analyze the customer’s needs;
* Find the best solution and support the solution definition to meet operational needs;
* Write technical specification definition and support Thales’ subcontractors;
* Contribute to the test plan to demonstrate functionality and stability;
* Configure, support, monitor and troubleshoot customer network infrastructure;
* Take ownership of technical upgrades of the customer's systems, according to the roadmap and agreements with the customer and Service Manager;
* Setup, maintain, improve and document the System Integration Lab, including telecommunications equipment;
* Prepare and configure equipment for Proof of Concept (PoC) of solution;
* Plan and document service activities;
* Support clients in resolving technical problems and seize opportunities;
* Collaborate with the Incident Manager for 24x7 support projects and communicate production system modifications;
* Participate in the 24x7 on-call team when demonstrating sufficient autonomy.
Qualifications
* Engineering Master degree in Computer Science and/or Telecommunications with at least 3 years of relevant experience in systems integration and/or advanced technical support (L2/L3);
* Technical passion; enthusiasm to explore new technologies based on prior expertise in systems and networks;
* Demonstrable skills in at least four of the following fields:
o Datacenter virtualization (VMWare ESXi clusters is an asset);
o Managed network equipment (Cisco is an asset);
o Scripting (Bash - Python);
o Linux and Windows servers;
o IP networks (routing, QoS, VPN, NAT);
o VoIP, SIP, Asterisk;
o Interest in Cybersecurity (network security in particular) is an asset;
o Fluency in English (professional capacity); fluency in French or Dutch is an asset;
o Capacity for innovation;
o Capability to organize work and share updates through Kanban.
