Critically, SPRG ensures consistency and compliance in contracts and grants across the organization for the benefit of JJ and its external partners. SPRG supports different RD teams across JJ during the evaluation, ensuring the external resource is an appropriate strategic fit to our RD priorities and that all risks, terms and conditions are evaluated before any engagement is made. In addition, SPRG takes ownership to support the projects End-To-End, from idea generation, submission, and execution to close-out and auditing. /p h3Context /h3 pFollowing the sectorization of the new JJ, the Strategic Partnerships and Resource Group has been re-positioned to better align with the two sectors, pivot capabilities towards future areas of RD across the IM and Med Tech sectors. There is also a need to build additional forward-looking capabilities which can help shape those future funding calls most relevant to the JJ RD strategy as well as be agile in engaging with new life science associations. /p h3Position Summary /h3 pTo drive efficiencies and risk management capabilities we are seeking a Sr. Manager – EU Risk Management. They will be an individual contributor and a developing subject matter expert who works independently with some supervision. Moreover, they will have the vision and strategic mindset with a clear objective to maintain a structural operational framework to oversee risk management support for the SPRG Front Office, focusing on EMEA and EU/or National funding in Public-Private Partnerships and Grants. /p pThe successful candidate will be joining a dynamic, global team steeped in a culture of collaboration, problem solving, risk assessment and compliance. /p pReporting to the Director, EU Risk Management, the Sr. Manager – EU Risk Management serves as the primary liaison for Focus Area Leaders, Grant Experts, and business partners, managing first-line risk evaluations, conflict resolution, and issue management, while also collaborating with corporate functions such as Legal, IP and Compliance. /p pAs such the role involves reviewing scientific project proposals, multi-party agreements, templates and identifying potential risks with EU and EMEA National grant types, liaising with external legal consultants, training staff on grant rules, and advising on issue resolution and corrective actions often in close partnership with Legal and IP attorneys and Compliance officers. /p pThe ideal candidate will bring a strong background in legal education, contracting, a passion for critical thinking and problem-solving, and a keen interest in European and national funding mechanisms, as well as Public-Private partnerships. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liSupport risk assessment and mitigation strategies for EU-funded projects, including Horizon Europe and the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) and local nationally funded projects. /li liCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with legal/IP and EU regulatory frameworks. /li liAnalyse review complex multi-party agreements, funding agreements and other documentation to identify potential risks and propose solutions. /li liContribute to the development and implementation of internal risk management processes and tools. /li liAssist in the preparation of reports, presentations, and communications for internal and external stakeholders. /li liMonitor evolving EU and national funding landscapes and provide insights to inform strategic decision-making. /li liIntegrates Johnson Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives into team goals and decision making. /li /ul h3Requirements /h3 ul liMaster’s degree in law (is required). Admission to a bar is not required. /li liAdditional degree in sciences (or Pharmaceuticals) is a plus. /li liA minimum of 5+ years of working experience in Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Devices Industry is required. /li liStrong knowledge of European and National Funding public-private partnership legal/IP compliance frameworks (especially Horizon Europe and the Innovative Health Initiative etc.). /li liAble to manage a large volume of complex or strategic collaboration projects for various JJ business partners, including transactional work, multi-party consortium negotiation and issue handling. /li liStrong communication skills with solid experience in interacting with senior leadership. /li liStrong presentation and influencing skills.
