POWER ELECTRONICS ENGINEER - BRUSSELS REGION (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION
Job Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and technically proficient Power Electronics Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the design and development of high-performance power conversion systems.
In this role, you will be responsible for creating reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions for a variety of applications, including electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, industrial automation, consumer electronics, and aerospace platforms.
As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will work on the full product development cycle - ranging from concept and simulation to prototyping, testing, validation, and production support. You will apply your expertise in circuit design, control strategies, and semiconductor technologies to develop systems that meet stringent electrical, thermal, safety, and regulatory requirements.
This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams including mechanical, firmware, embedded software, and systems engineering. You will have access to advanced lab facilities and the opportunity to work with next-generation technologies, high-efficiency power topologies, and digital control platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, simulate, and develop power electronic systems including DC-DC converters, AC-DC rectifiers, inverters, and motor drives.
* Select and evaluate semiconductors and passive components based on performance, reliability, and cost.
* Develop and optimize analog and digital control algorithms for power converters using microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGAs.
* Create detailed schematics and PCB layouts with considerations for thermal management, EMI/EMC compliance, and manufacturability.
* Perform hands-on lab work including prototype assembly, circuit testing, efficiency measurement, and failure analysis.
* Utilize simulation tools (LTspice, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM) to validate design concepts and predict performance.
* Collaborate with mechanical and embedded systems engineers to ensure full system integration.
* Support design validation, regulatory testing, and transition to manufacturing.
* Prepare technical documentation such as specifications, test reports, application notes, and design guides.
* Stay current with industry standards, trends, and emerging technologies in power electronics.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
* 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in power electronics circuit design and product development.
* Strong understanding of power conversion topologies (buck, boost, PFC, LLC, etc.) and control strategies (voltage/current mode, digital/analog control).
* Experience with simulation and design tools (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM) and PCB software (Altium, Eagle, OrCAD).
* Proficiency with lab instruments: oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads, thermal cameras, etc.
* Familiarity with compliance and safety standards (UL, IEC, ISO, EMI/EMC).
* Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and in team-based, multidisciplinary environments.
The Offer:
* A permanent, full-time employment contract
* A salary & benefits package commensurate with experience
