For our client, a leading digital-first bank in Belgium, recognized for its innovative approach to online banking and investment services, we are currently looking for a Chief Risk Officer.
The Chief Risk Officer is responsible for defining, implementing and overseeing the bank’s global risk management framework, ensuring the effective identification, assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of all material risk.
The role operates with a dual reporting structure, combining a direct reporting line to the local executive management and a functional reporting corporate structure.
The role works in good partnership with the different businesses (IT, Products, Operations, Finance), with the double objective of supporting and educating their teams vis-à-vis the different facets of risk management they are faced in their daily operations and growing their level of maturity along an ambitious yet realistic learning curve.
You contribute to the definition and maintenance of the risk appetite framework of the bank in alignment with the Group and ensure a proper follow up of limits.
You monitor emerging risks related to digital banking, fintech partnerships, outsourcing and third-party providers, in line with Group framework.
You deliver regular risk analysis reports and suggest action plans.
You develop fraud prevention frameworks and manage model risks.
You conduct regular risk assessments through testing and self-assessments.
You promote a strong risk culture across the bank and provide training for teams.
You manage the risk organization to develop competencies and reach targets.
You coach, motivate and develop your team.
You bring proven experience in a senior risk leadership role within a regulated environment.
You have a strong understanding of risk management frameworks and methodologies, with at least 10 years of experience in risk management within banking or financial services.
You act as a true advisor and business partner, with a strong team-oriented mindset and a pragmatic, solution-driven approach.
You communicate effectively with senior management and executive-level stakeholders.
You have solid expertise in credit assessment, operational risk management (including IT risk) and fraud prevention.
You possess a strong knowledge of Belgian and European banking regulations and supervisory expectations.
You adopt a servant leadership approach and are able to support and empower your team.
You are able to coach and further develop team members
