Position overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Service Engineer to join our team for an early engagement project. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in defining and managing requirements, overseeing systems development, and ensuring seamless systems integration and build processes.
Key responsibilities
Requirements definition and management
Define and manage scoping, requirements definition, and prioritization activities for medium-sized and complex initiatives
Contribute to selecting the requirements approach
Facilitate input from stakeholders, provide constructive challenge, and enable effective prioritization of requirements
Establish requirements baselines, obtain formal agreement to requirements, and ensure traceability to source
Systems development management
Plan and drive systems development projects supporting organizational objectives and plans
Select, adopt, and adapt appropriate systems development methods, tools, and techniques
Ensure stakeholders are aware of required resources and that they are made available
Facilitate the availability and optimum utilization of resources
Monitor and report on the progress of development projects
Ensure projects are carried out in accordance with agreed architectures, standards, methods, and tools, addressing security and privacy requirements
Develop roadmaps to communicate future development activity
Systems integration and build
Provide technical expertise to enable the configuration of system components and equipment for systems testing
Collaborate with technical teams to develop and agree on system integration plans and report on progress
Define complex/new integration builds
Ensure that integration test environments are correctly configured
Design, perform, and report results of tests of the integration build
Identify and document system integration components for recording in the configuration management system
Recommend and implement improvements to processes and tools
Additional duties
Collaborate with and facilitate internal and external communication to fully document business needs and indicate solutions if required
Support the creation of requirements that meet the strategic needs of the business
Take responsibility for understanding client requirements, collecting data, supporting analysis, and problem resolution
Support coherence, standardization efforts, assure quality of products, and alignment across systems in the use of optimal technologies, leading to faster implementation and reduced maintenance costs
Contribute to early Solution Architecting team activities related to customer support for upcoming requirements
Act as the interface to the CTO Early Engagement to allow the smooth transition of customer requirements to the project teams
Maintain active links with customers
Promote and enforce outsourcing of commodity services
Promote transition from assets to services
Deputize for higher-grade staff if required
Perform other duties as may be required
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree from a nationally recognized/certified university in a related discipline and 2 years of post-related experience
Alternatively, at least 6 years of extensive and progressive expertise in duties related to the function of the post may compensate for the lack of a university degree
Experience
Experience with drafting ICT design and/or software development and planning of system and software delivery for large projects
Experience in identifying and assessing new and emerging technologies and their adoption into larger systems
Experience in developing technology roadmaps considering emerging technology solutions
Experience managing relationships with technical stakeholders (internal and external)
Proven ability to apply analytical and systems thinking to complex problems
Proven ability to moderate technical design-related discussions with multi-disciplinary teams
Proven experience presenting complex technical concepts to diverse and sometimes non-technical audiences
Desirable experience
Proven ability in process analysis and design techniques, including needs assessment, specification development, planning, and gap analysis
Knowledge in The Open Group Togaf, ArchiMate, ITIL, COBIT, CISSP, or equivalent
Knowledge and experience with Military systems requirement capture, analysis, and specifications
Working conditions
Normal office environment.
May require travel to other sites within Belgium 1-2 times per month
