GIRP, the European Healthcare Distribution Association, is the umbrella organisation for pharmaceutical full-line wholesalers and distributors of healthcare products and services in Europe. GIRP represents the national associations of over 750 pharmaceutical wholesalers serving 33 European countries, as well as major international and pan-European healthcare distribution companies. GIRP members employ over 140,000 people and distribute around 15 billion packs of medicines per year, along with medical devices, in vitro diagnostic devices, veterinarian medicinal products, food supplements, and other healthcare-related products.
Full-service healthcare distributors are vital for the European healthcare sector, serving as a central link in the distribution pathway of medicinal products. They facilitate the purchase, warehousing, storage, order preparation, and delivery of medicines, while also providing working capital and extended financing services to pharmacies and healthcare professionals.
By fostering trust, partnership, and innovation, they help millions of patients daily in pharmacies and healthcare institutions. GIRP members are committed to developing and providing innovative healthcare products and services to improve health and wellbeing across Europe.
As the voice of the healthcare distribution sector, GIRP aims to shape smart and informed policy measures at the European level. It offers its members support services, advice, information, educational events, workshops, and networking opportunities.
GIRP is seeking a new Director General to lead and manage the association in 2024.
Purpose of the GIRP Director General:
The Director-General (DG) reports to the GIRP Board and is responsible for:
* Developing GIRP’s vision, goals, and objectives.
* Driving GIRP’s lobbying activities to represent and advance the interests of its members.
* Overseeing the planning, delivery, monitoring, and impact measurement of GIRP’s services.
* Managing the association within the policy guidelines set by the organization and Board.
Scope of Work:
The DG will develop and strengthen relationships with stakeholders, including European and international organizations, private sector companies, and government officials. The DG is responsible for delivering high-quality services to members and participating organizations, and for fostering innovation within the association.
The DG will manage the Secretariat, support team growth and development, and guide the team towards achieving goals within budget.
What You’ll Do:
* Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the organization.
* Create a strategic agenda to achieve goals and add value for GIRP stakeholders.
* Engage in the EU healthcare agenda, developing networks and partnerships.
* Promote GIRP’s image, mission, and role in the European healthcare distribution sector.
* Ensure the relevance and quality of GIRP’s work, addressing members’ key priorities.
* Manage team structure, performance, and organizational growth.
* Maintain and manage GIRP’s assets.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven success in leading organizational change and growth through strategic planning.
* Strong network within EU and international healthcare and policy institutions.
* Experience in the health industry or industry associations is preferred.
* Ability to communicate effectively with high-level officials and large audiences.
* Track record of innovation and implementing transformative initiatives.
* Inclusive leadership style, integrity, and ethical standards.
* Visionary thinking and responsiveness to sector developments.
* Fluent in English; proficiency in another EU language is a plus.
* Willingness to travel internationally up to 30%.
