Senior Accountant at Banqup plays a key role in Belgian accounting operations, responsible for daily accounting activities, monthly and annual closings, and statutory reporting. Working closely with the Accounting Manager Belgium, they ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting while supporting the growth of a dynamic fintech organisation.
Mission
As a Senior Accountant at Banqup, you play a key role in the Belgian accounting operations. You are responsible for daily accounting activities, monthly and annual closings, and statutory reporting. Working closely with the Accounting Manager Belgium, you ensure accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting while supporting the growth of a dynamic fintech organisation.
Responsibilities
Handle day-to-day accounting activities and ensure smooth and accurate operations.
Coordinate and support junior accountants, guiding them where needed.
Prepare and submit VAT, MOSS, and other Belgian tax declarations.
Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
Prepare balance sheets and profit & loss statements.
Take care of annual accounts and statutory reporting in Belgium.
Deliver quarterly reporting packages for the group.
Review financial transactions and help maintain strong accounting controls.
Stay up to date with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation.
Act as the main point of contact and key user for NetSuite.
Ensure deadlines are met and quality standards are respected.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who Have
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting or a related financial field.
Approximately 5 years of experience in a related field.
Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting standards (BE GAAP) and corporate finance.
Good understanding of Belgian corporate tax legislation.
Excellent Excel skills; experience with ERP systems is a strong plus (NetSuite is an asset).
Fluent in English in combination with either Dutch or French, both written and spoken.
A strong eye for detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
A true passion for accounting and working with numbers.
Clear and professional communication skills.
A collaborative team player who also works well independently.
Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
Ability to plan, prioritise, and meet deadlines in a structured way.
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a sense of ownership and responsibility.
