Ageas Re
Ageas Re is organized as a Business Unit within ageas SA/NV, the Group holding, on whose balance sheet it underwrites third-party and intra-group reinsurance under the trade name Ageas Re. Today, Ageas Re serves clients globally, specializing in property and casualty treaty reinsurance.
Ageas Re's Risk & Actuarial department plays a critical role in supporting Ageas Re's development. To strengthen our ambitious and dynamic team, we are looking for a Risk Manager based in Brussels.
Your function
As Risk Manager, you will be responsible for:
* Developing and driving the strategic vision for the Ageas Re Internal Model, acting as the primary architect for all quantitative methodologies, calibration strategies, and validation frameworks.
* Acting as a strategic advisor to the Risk & Actuarial Director and the Management Committee, reviewing & challenging the business on risk-return trade-offs and the application of the strategic risk appetite framework.
* Proactively defining and addressing ambiguous business challenges where the problem statement is not yet clear, including determining the priorities and approach to complex solvency and capital optimization issues.
* Leading the design and implementation of new, group-wide risk frameworks and methodologies, ensuring they are innovative and future-proof.
* Overseeing and interpreting the SCR calculations (Pillar I + II) and risk appetite metrics, providing high-level strategic insights and business-oriented advice directly to senior stakeholders.
* Mentoring and coaching junior and senior team members, acting as the technical conscience of the department and the official 'first back-up' for the Risk & Actuarial Director.
* Representing Ageas Re as the subject matter expert in high-level Technical Committees, the Model Control Board, and towards external regulators and auditors.
Your profile
* You hold an actuarial degree or possess a strong mathematical background;
* You have 10 to 15 years of experience in the re/insurance industry, non-life in particular;
* You have excellent knowledge and practice of capital modeling for re/insurance companies;
* You possess expertise in Solvency II and a good knowledge of IFRS 9/17;
* You have the ability to find the right balance between applying the required level of detail and reducing complexity;
* You are able to explain complex matters in an easy way;
* You speak English fluent and also master French and/or Dutch.
