Head of Support Technical Services
We are looking for a Head of Support Technical Services who is strategic, people‑focused, and solution‑oriented to join our team based at our UCB campus located in Braine‑l'Alleud, Belgium.
About the role
In this role, you are going to lead the Technical Support organisation, a transversal team supporting all Belgium Technical Services activities across the Braine campus, Leuven, and HQ. You will oversee six key workstreams—from physical asset management to compliance, laboratory equipment oversight, technical warehouse management, periodic inspections expertise, and GMP periodic controls—ensuring operational excellence, technical robustness, and regulatory compliance across all Belgian sites.
Who you will work with
You will collaborate with diverse technical, operational, compliance and quality teams across Belgian sites and act as a strategic partner to leaders within Belgium Technical Services (BelTech). You will also represent the department during internal audits and external inspections (FDA, AFMPS, DPC, corporate), while interacting closely with maintenance, engineering, laboratory, warehouse, metrology and GMP control teams.
What you will do
•You will lead and align the strategy of all BelTech Business Support workstreams in line with UCB priorities, risks, and objectives.
• You will manage a team of 30–50 people, ensuring skills development, resource planning, retention, performance, and well‑being.
• You will oversee OPEX planning and forecasts (€3–5M annually) and monitor OPEX & CAPEX expenditures.
• You will estimate and support investment needs linked to improvement and remediation activities.
• You will optimise maintenance efficiency, periodic GMP controls, spare‑parts inventory (€20M+), and project handovers.
• You will represent BelTech during regulatory inspections and audits and support sustainability initiatives reducing CO₂, water, and waste.
Interested?
For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills:
• 10+ years in pharma and 10+ years in technical services (maintenance, utilities, periodic controls, project management).
• Proven leadership of large teams and strong people‑management skills (development, coaching, performance).
• Expertise in Maintenance Excellence (RCM, FMECA, PMO), compliance, asset management, and financial processes.
• Strong communication, customer‑focused mindset, and ability to drive change and long‑term strategy.
• Solid skills in problem‑solving, risk management, influencing, and cross‑functional coordination.
• Fluent in French and English.
