Responsibilities
* Work in the Mechanical Engineering department
* Responsible for defining requirements
* Design technical solutions during concept, basic and/or detail engineering phases, focusing on manufacturability, strength, cost, assembly and reliability
* Create designs and detailed drawings in CAD or support colleagues who do
* Prepare technical, project‑focused correspondence and documentation
* Test and validate your design and that of colleagues using basic analyses
* Ensure work conforms to required standards and client expectations
* Maintain contact with clients, suppliers, manufacturers and other VIRO departments
* Motivate and stimulate colleagues
* Play a role in supervising and developing (junior) mechanical engineers
* Support project leaders in defining and estimating work scope
* Act as knowledge holder, expert or lead engineer in a project team
* Work on site and at client locations under project leader direction
Requirements
* Professional Bachelor and/or Master in Engineering Sciences, preferably Electrical and Mechanical or equivalent
* Minimum 5 years experience as a mechanical engineer
* Experience in a comparable role
* Passion for technology and drive to constantly seek innovative solutions
* Ability to solve mechanical problems quickly and creatively without compromising functionality, reliability, safety and cost
* Extensive knowledge of applicable standards and regulations
* Knowledge of 3D CAD software (preferably NX or Creo)
* Fluent in Dutch and English
* Flexible approach to work, travel and hours
