We are looking for a Digital Technology Lead Industrial Engineering who is innovative, solution-focused and collaborative to join us in our Digital Technology team, based in Braine l’Alleud, Belgium. This is a global role supporting multiple manufacturing sites, mainly in Braine l'Alleud (Belgium) and Bulle (Switzerland).
About the role
You will be responsible for the seamless integration, optimization, and continuous improvement of our automation platforms that control processes in biotech and pharmaceutical manufacturing plants. By utilizing advanced technology and industry best practices, you will enhance operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive innovation in our commercial and clinical manufacturing processes. Your goal is to empower UCB's organization with robust, scalable, and secure systems that enable us to deliver life-saving medications to patients with precision and excellence
Who you’ll work with
You will be working with a team that collaborates closely with engineering, biotech, pharma production, and digital technology teams. Your role involves being the single point of contact for business units from the Manufacturing and Engineering departments, ensuring that digital solutions align with UCB’s strategic objectives. You will also engage with external partners who help maintain and update digital systems.
What you’ll do
1. Oversee and manage control systems and engineering digital systems
2. Accountable for executing projects to roll out new capabilities and expand the footprint to new manufacturing lines, driven by UCB's growth
3. Ensure reliable and resilient operation of all digital systems in scope
4. Troubleshoot issues and implement continuous system improvements
5. Collaborate with engineering and automation teams to integrate control systems
6. Identify and mitigate risks related to digital projects and platforms
7. Ensure all operations comply with pharmaceutical regulations and industry standards
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience, and skills:
8. Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Engineering, IT, Computer Science)
9. 5+ years of experience in IT project management in a GMP environment
10. Expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
11. Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and industrial process control
12. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment
13. Fluent in English and good knowledge of French
