The EY Strategy and Transactions (SaT) team is looking for market-facing professionals with experience in ESG/sustainability strategies and transactional knowledge. The role involves formulating responses, strategies, and analyses for clients, including financial institutions like the EIB, in areas such as:
1. Energy projects (energy supply, infrastructure, efficiency, processing industries, innovation, new energy infrastructure)
2. Energy transition and low carbon technologies
3. Sustainable strategies, ESG assessments, green and sustainable finance
4. Smart Growth, Social Infrastructure, Horizon Europe, SMEs Access to Finance
5. Natural capital accounting and strategies
The position is based in Brussels, working for and on behalf of corporates and the EIB, focusing on the impact of sustainability on strategies and operations.
Your key responsibilities
1. Serve as a SaT subject matter expert in a team providing sustainability services.
2. Participate in projects involving technical support, market assessments, transaction advisory, feasibility studies, project management, modeling, and report drafting. Grow the sustainability (including EIB) business.
3. Engage in business development by building relationships, initiating contacts, and participating in market actions, tenders, and proposals.
4. Manage project administration and financials, liaise across EY Global Network, and coordinate multi-sector projects.
5. Develop the sustainability practice by providing ESG assessments, strategies, and insights to support client decision-making.
Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in engineering, economics, European affairs, green economy, sustainability, or related fields.
2. At least 5 years of experience implementing sustainability projects, including due diligence, ESG strategy, or impact modeling.
3. Proven track record in delivering sustainability value creation and ESG strategies.
4. Understanding of business model innovation, transformation, digitization, impact measurement, and valuation in sustainability.
5. Experience with project assessment, support, and monitoring, advisory, capacity building, and knowledge creation.
6. Knowledge of sustainability infrastructure, energy, ESG, financing policies, and initiatives.
7. Experience working with or for the EIB or similar institutions, with knowledge of EU policies, is an asset.
8. Experience in consulting, public institutions, or financial sectors.
9. Ability to handle complex projects across multiple sectors, with knowledge of business and sustainability strategies.
10. Familiarity with ESG risks, impact, mitigation, and value creation, including quantification and due diligence.
11. Understanding of key sustainability issues and their linkage to business value.
12. Skills in option analysis, forecasting, environmental and social impact assessments, climate risk, and project implementation.
13. Experience developing methodological guidelines, project approaches, PPP, compliance, and environmental provisions.
14. High motivation and passion for sustainability and climate change.
15. Excellent communication skills in English.
