We are seeking a Senior Project Manager (Freelance) for a 6-month mission in Brussels. As Project Manager, you will be the driving force behind complex IT projects that optimize digital services and deploy cutting-edge technologies (IoT, AI, data analysis, satellite imagery, drones) for smarter, more efficient operations. Your leadership will ensure that digital solutions are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and with maximum impact.
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead and deliver digital transformation projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and sustainability objectives
* Plan, coordinate, and implement innovative IT solutions, bringing structure and clarity to complex, multi-stakeholder environments
* Guide multidisciplinary teams using Agile/Scrum and Prince2 methodologies, fostering collaboration and high performance
* Organize and report to project and program steering groups, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and results
* Manage project scope, budget, timelines, and resources, proactively identifying and mitigating risks
* Engage with both internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless project execution and stakeholder alignment
* Utilize tools such as JIRA, MS Project, PowerBI, and MS Office to drive project transparency and data-driven decision-making
* Champion innovation by developing and pitching new project proposals, including through hackathons and other creative formats
* Contribute to the digitalization and innovation strategy, supporting the mission to protect and make nature accessible for all
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 8 years' demonstrable experience as a Project Manager in infrastructure or development projects
* Proven track record in full project management lifecycle (planning, scope, budget, time) — 10 years' experience preferred
* Expertise in Agile/Scrum operations (minimum 3 years) and experience as a Scrum Master
* Strong experience organizing and reporting to project/program steering groups (minimum 5 years)
* Certification in project management methodologies (Prince2, PMBok, etc.) and ability to share expert knowledge
* Fluency in Dutch at European CEFR level C2 (mandatory)
* Experience with .NET, Angular, AWS, and PowerBI environments
* Hands-on experience with JIRA as a scrum platform
* Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and manage interdependencies
* Experience developing innovative project proposals (e.g., via hackathons)
* Knowledge of and experience with innovative technologies (IoT, AI, data analysis, drones, satellite imagery)
* Experience with GIS/geographical component projects
* Experience in project management for end-user applications (front and back office)
* Knowledge of ITIL and MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel
* Experience in public sector project management is a plus
* Ownership mindset, strong communication skills, and a hands-on, impact-driven approach
