Tasks for the Position:
* Administration of DG-specific infrastructures, systems, and services, such as file and print services, Remote Desktop Server service, DG-specific systems and software, and hosted applications.
* Second-level user support with IT correspondents in user units.
* Licenses allocation and renewal follow-up.
* Installation of hardware components (Server, NAS, SAN, Network) in the Local datacentre.
* Installation and configuration of system components and server software, including patch management.
* Operation and monitoring of infrastructure, systems, and servers.
* Configuration management tasks & procedures.
* Incident management, change enablement, request fulfilment, problem management: definition, analysis, and resolution.
* Advising on areas such as capacity management, contingency planning, IT service continuity management, automation of repetitive tasks, and security.
* Participation in meetings with DIGIT services.
* Scripting & configurations in the context of systems and infrastructure.
* Handling of backups and restore operations of systems and infrastructure.
* Participation in defining and documenting the configuration of systems & infrastructure.
* Participation in defining and documenting operational procedures.
* Participation in architectural design/reviews.
* Drafting technical content for the knowledge base of the infrastructure team.
* Evaluation and implementation of security standards.
* Security administration and monitoring in adherence to the security rules imposed by the European Commission's central security service, complemented by local rules where necessary under the supervision of the OIB LISO (Local Informatics Security Officer).
* Participation in coordination and project meetings.
* Interaction with the business analysts, customer, users, project leaders, and the developers.
Requirements:
* Essential Technical Knowledge & Skills:
o Infrastructure: Understanding of servers, storage, virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox).
o Networking: WAN/LAN routing, redundancy, bandwidth management, and diagnosing connectivity issues.
o Software: Microsoft Server, Linux, ServiceNow.
o Cybersecurity: Risk assessment, threat mitigation, compliance, and data security.
o Cloud Computing: Knowledge of cloud integration and management.
o Scripting/Programming: Python and SQL for automation.
o Monitoring: Using tools for real-time system performance monitoring.
o Disaster Recovery: Business continuity design and implementation.
* Essential Soft Skills:
o Communication: Clear interaction with users, teams, and OIB's management.
o Problem-Solving/Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving issues quickly, often under pressure.
o Customer Service: Responding to support tickets and escalating user concerns when necessary.
o Time Management & Organisation: Prioritising tasks efficiently.
o Critical Thinking: Understanding consequences of actions and finding better solutions.

* Specific Expertise:
o At least 5 years of expertise with VMWare products and tools.
o At least 5 years of expertise with Microsoft Server, Active Directory, and PowerShell.
o At least 2 years of expertise with Linux.
o Specific knowledge of the European Commission IT landscape and DIGIT service catalogue and tools is considered a significant advantage.
* Certifications & Standards:
o VMware Certified Professional – vSphere Foundation Administrator (VCP-VVF).
o Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
Advantageous Certifications:
o AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
