LINUX SYSTEM ENGINEER USSELS (BELGIUM) PERMANENT POSITION
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Linux System Engineer for the IT infrastructure team of a client in Brussels.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our Linux based systems.
You will work closely with developers, DevOps, and security teams to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of the infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) across physical and virtual environments.
* Automate routine system administration tasks using shell scripting or tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform.
* Monitor system performance, ensure availability, and maintain security through established best practices.
* Troubleshoot hardware and software issues and ensure uptime and reliability.
* Manage user access, system backups, and disaster recovery planning.
* Apply patches, upgrades, and maintain system documentation.
* Collaborate with cross functional teams to support application deployment and CI/CD pipelines.
* Ensure systems meet compliance and security standards (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA, PCI DSS).
* Participate in on call rotation and respond to critical issues as needed.
Requirements:
* 3+ years of experience managing Linux systems in a production environment.
* Strong knowledge of Linux server administration (Red Hat, CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu).
* Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar).
* Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
* Familiarity with virtualization and container technologies (VMware, Docker, KVM).
* Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
* Experience with system monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana).
* Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
* Experience with Kubernetes or other orchestration platforms.
* Security hardening and compliance experience.
* Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, or LFCS.
