1. You have a master's degree in Business Administration, (Applied) Economic Sciences, Business Engineering or an equivalent degree with good academic results and master thesis. Students in the final year may also apply.
2. You have a great interest in scientific research and good statistical skills.
3. You excel in critically examining scientific literature.
4. You are eager to learn and highly motivated to expand your knowledge of financial management and methodology.
5. You have good written skills, especially in English.
6. You are expected to present and discuss research findings in public (e.g. scientific conference, seminars).
7. You will follow the doctoral programme in Business Economics at the faculty of Economics and Business from KU Leuven.
8. You will prepare a doctoral dissertation (PhD.) at the Finance research group of KU Leuven, under the supervision of Prof. dr. Nico Dewaelheyns and Prof. dr. Frederiek Schoubben.
9. You will be able to participate in national and international conferences where you can present your research. You are expected to attend, participate in seminars and will occasionally be involved in teaching activities, including the supervision of master theses.
At the Antwerp campus of the Finance research group (FEB, KU Leuven), we are looking for motivated, independent and enthusiastic researchers in the field of Empirical Corporate Finance. The individualized doctoral program in Business Economics at KU Leuven allows the doctoral student to devote four years to full-time research. The formulation of the research proposal will be part of the PhD activities during the first year (combined with course work and literature review) under supervision. The program ultimately leads to a doctoral degree and prepares the student for an academic career at a top university or a career as a researcher in a policy institution.
