CHARP is looking for an experienced Full-Stack Engineer to join our team in Mechelen, Belgium!
Who we are
A vital mission for any heritage institution is to preserve cultural objects and works of art for future generations. Ensuring a correct and stable environment for such artifacts is key for this.
CHARP provides a climate monitoring platform that helps heritage institutions protect their valuable artifacts from environmental threats. We have some beautiful hardware (monitoring temperature, humidity, and light) combined with our own SaaS software platform that offers detailed insights and alerts to conservators.
CHARP is a spin-off of KU Leuven, operating mainly across Europe, with HQ in Mechelen, Belgium. Our team is diverse, including software developers, engineers, business leaders, and journalists, united by a passion for cultural heritage and a friendly, collaborative atmosphere.
Who you are
You are a software developer with a proven track record of quality projects. Ideally, you’re a versatile “swiss army knife” type, comfortable working on both front-end and back-end, familiar with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with hardware, IoT, or embedded systems is a plus.
Above all, you are mature, communicative, and proactive. You take ownership and responsibility for your work, including designing and implementing solutions. Experience in team leadership and project ownership is a bonus.
Familiar buzzwords include: Node.js, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, InfluxDB, Python, Docker, and more. We are open to adopting new technologies where appropriate.
We value drive, passion, and a friendly attitude. You should be willing to dive deep into complex challenges and find simple, reliable solutions.
We’re not just building a product but a company. We seek people who understand the bigger purpose and are comfortable with an incremental, sometimes challenging process. We’ll support your understanding of our mission and give you autonomy to excel.
English proficiency is sufficient; Dutch is not required.
* You wish to be part of a close-knit, respectful team that values work-life balance.
* You’re eager to learn and grow, willing to step outside your comfort zone about 20-30%, learning from talented colleagues and sharing your knowledge.
* Having a passion for art is a plus, but not mandatory.
