In this position, you will help shape the future of AI-driven solutions at Mediahuis. You’ll work on cutting-edge projects involving large language models (LLMs), text embeddings, and vector databases to enhance our digital products and editorial workflows.

Your role includes.

* ntsAfter building and tweaking LLM-based solutions you evaluate the LLM output quality with a focus on coherence, factuality, and consiste
* ncyYou apply techniques such as prompt engineering, few-shot learning, and embedding-based retrie
* valYou work with embedding and semantic search syst
* emsTo evaluate model performance you use appropriate metrics and communicate your findings clearly to our non-technical stakehold
* ersYou make sure AI solutions are robust and can be put into product
* ionYou collaborate closely with editorial and product teams to ensure alignment with business goals
Since our teams are hybrid, we expect you to work from our Antwerp office at Linkeroever two days a week.
What makes you a great fit?
What’s on your CV, is important, but by no means the only thing we care about. We find it at least as important that you want to go for it full steam ahead, just like us. Full of enthusiasm, positive attitude and always solution-oriented. You will fit right in if you are naturally curious, love to experiment, and eager to learn and share knowledge. Above all we would appreciate your proactive and pragmatic drive, and a collaborative mindset. You have affinity with the (dynamics of the) news industry, and can deal with the fact that priorities can suddenly change along the way.
In the set-up of our small team (with large impact though!) we recommend several years of experience as a data scientist or machine learning engineer. This way, you have hands-on experience with LLMs and generative AI applications. You are proficient in Python and are familiar with tools like Databricks, MLFlow, and LLMOps practices. Your potential experience with cloud-based AI platforms such as Azure AI Foundry or Google Vertex AI is a plus. Last but not least, our projects for the newsroom require fluency in Dutch.
You possess a work permit and can work in Belgium without sponsorship.
What's about to become your second home?
You will be working at TPS, Mediahuis' International IT & data department. You will join the GenAI team, which is a multidisciplinary team consisting of data engineers, data scientists and developers. The team builds generative AI solutions for the newsrooms, B2B and B2C departments of the Mediahuis group; think of generated headlines suggestions or an internal RAG for journalists.
